As I was lackadaisical in my attitude toward my studies throughout high school my chances of getting into a good university are slim to none. Without diverging on a tangent, issues such as trying to help a struggling friend with his cocaine addiction, family divorce, and mono during my junior year contributed to my rather poor statlist for college applications. Now that I have turned over a new leaf, i feel that I am ready to tackle the challenges of the college environment. However, I fear that my poor track record will prevent me from attending a good school within Texas or elsewere. Eyes set on either A&M or UT, it will be a dream come true if I am granted admission to either school. How badly will my horrible class rank affect my chances? What are my chances to get into both universities? Furthermore what universities should I look into applying to for out of state?
Lastly, can you suggest me some “reach schools”, “match schools”, and “safety schools”?

Many schools have a form for “special circumstances” where you can explain your illness and other factors.
Your qualifications are still good and you should be able to get in to a good college. Use this site and enter the name of a school and compare your profile with the enrolled freshmen./
